The Central European Subgroup of the Geoscience Information Consortium (CE-GIC) is a subgroup of the GIC [1] and was established 2015 with intended purpose similar to the NordicGIC subgroup [2]
The current members of the CE-GIC are Austria (Geosphere Austria), Croatia (HGI),Czech Republic (CGS), Hungary (SARA), Poland (PGI-NRI), Romania (IGR), Slovakia (ŠGÚDŠ) and Slovenia (GeoZS).
It has 5 major aims:

- offer a forum to present and discuss individual solutions to the challenges of Geological Surveys and best practices common to any organization, including data acquisition, database design, data analysis and data output
- provide the opportunity for discussion and dissemination of data standards, data exchange formats for sharing geoscientific data and solutions to operational problems
- provide opportunities to initiate collaborations that demonstrate and implement the sharing of data and problem solving techniques between member surveys
- provide a forum where the operational staff of the member GSOs can meet personally and discuss with their professional counterparts in order to exchange concrete ideas on common challenges
