The '''Central European Subgroup of the Geoscience Information Consortium (CE-GIC)''' has formed up with currently eigth member states – Austria (GBA), Croatia (HGI),Czech Republic (CGS), Hungary (SARA), Poland (PGI-NRI), Romania (IGR), Slovakia (ŠGÚDŠ) and Slovenia (GeoZS).
The current members of the CE-GIC are  Austria (GBA), Croatia (HGI),Czech Republic (CGS), Hungary (SARA), Poland (PGI-NRI), Romania (IGR), Slovakia (ŠGÚDŠ) and Slovenia (GeoZS).
The key issues of the CE-GIC subgroup are the cooperation, mutual support and exchange of experience regarding spatial data infrastructure, data management and development of geoscience information systems. Within that ‘small-scale’ geoscience information group, we hope to attain more efficiency to deal with several challenges concerning geoscience information.

Our first successful constituent meeting took place in Budapest from 23.-24.06.2015 at the MFGI --> [[Budapest_2015_MFGI]].
It has 5 major aims:
* exchange information between Geological Surveys Organizations (GSOs) on the use and management of geoscientific information systems in support of geoscience at regional level
* offer a forum to present and discuss individual solutions to the challenges of Geological Surveys and best practices common to any organization, including data acquisition, database design, data analysis and data output
* provide the opportunity for discussion and dissemination of data standards, data exchange formats for sharing geoscientific data and solutions to operational problems
* provide opportunities to initiate collaborations that demonstrate and implement the sharing of data and problem solving techniques between member surveys
* provide a forum where the operational staff of the member GSOs can meet personally and discuss with their professional counterparts in order to exchange concrete ideas on common challenges

The Central European Subgroup of the Geoscience Information Consortium (CE-GIC) is a subgroup of the GIC [1] and was established 2015 with intended purpose similar to the NordicGIC subgroup [2]

The current members of the CE-GIC are Austria (GBA), Croatia (HGI),Czech Republic (CGS), Hungary (SARA), Poland (PGI-NRI), Romania (IGR), Slovakia (ŠGÚDŠ) and Slovenia (GeoZS).

It has 5 major aims:

  • exchange information between Geological Surveys Organizations (GSOs) on the use and management of geoscientific information systems in support of geoscience at regional level
  • offer a forum to present and discuss individual solutions to the challenges of Geological Surveys and best practices common to any organization, including data acquisition, database design, data analysis and data output
  • provide the opportunity for discussion and dissemination of data standards, data exchange formats for sharing geoscientific data and solutions to operational problems
  • provide opportunities to initiate collaborations that demonstrate and implement the sharing of data and problem solving techniques between member surveys
  • provide a forum where the operational staff of the member GSOs can meet personally and discuss with their professional counterparts in order to exchange concrete ideas on common challenges
